Piedmont Soccer Club Academy

The Piedmont Soccer Club is excited to announce that we will again be offering the PSC Academy during the fall 2010 season for U8-U10 players and for coaches of any age group.  The Academy is a series of clinics intended to help develop exciting, skillful players and to help develop effective coaches. This will be done through an active learning environment where passion for the game and fun will be the emphasis.  The skills and concepts taught are designed to help players succeed at whatever level they choose to compete.

The Academy will be run by professional coaches and is designed to improve the skills of U8 and U10 Piedmont Soccer Class 4 (recreational league) players. Enrollment is limited, so please register soon in order to assure a space for your child. 

The PSC Academy will use age-appropriate fun games and activities to accelerate player development in the following areas:

  • Technical ability and skills (dribbling/receiving and controlling the ball)
  • Passing and striking techniques
  • Tactical Awareness (basic tactical training, principles of defense/offense)
  • Psychological Development (develop a 'passion' and 'love' for the game and for playing it)

In developing our practice sessions we will take the following essential factors into consideration:

  • Use fun games and activities to encourage player participation
  • Provide participants with the best possible experience each time they get together
  • Provide an environment that maximizes touches of the ball and develops technical skills
  • Introduce a competitive element to games and activities to challenge players and develop a competitive nature at the right pace

The Academy is also aimed at developing Piedmont Soccer Club coaches.

  • Each session the Academy instructors will work with PSC coaches on how to teach that day's practice session.
  • ALL Piedmont Soccer Club coaches, no matter what age they coach, are encouraged to attend Academy sessions and bring the concepts back to their own practices.  The concepts are applicable to most age groups.
  • Coaches are free but should register for the Academy so that we can communicate with them and distribute relevant materials.

The Academy is open to U8 and U10 boys and girls registered with Piedmont Soccer Club. It is only open to Class 4 (recreational league) players.  The Academy is also open to coaches registered with Piedmont Soccer Club in any age group.

The Academy will meet once a week at Havens Field in Piedmont and will be in addition to a player's regularly scheduled practice. We do not anticipate any conflict between team practice and the Academy sessions however some coaches may choose to run their practices simultaneously as the Academy. 

  • U8: 6 sessions, Fridays, 4-5:30, Sept. 10-Oct. 16, $40
  • U10: 8 sessions, Fridays, 5:30-6:45, Sept. 10-Oct. 16, 4-5:30 Oct.23, Oct. 30, $60
  • Coaches:  There is no fee to register as a coach.
  • Each Academy player will receive a ball and t-shirt.
Scholarships may be available on a need-based case.

PSC Youth Academy (U8-U10):

The PSC Youth Academy is open to U8 and U10 boys and girls registered with Piedmont Soccer Club. Class IV recreational players may participate in a fall Soccer Academy led by Bay Oaks trainers.  The Academy is also open to coaches registered with Piedmont Soccer Club in any age group.  The Academy will meet once a week at Havens Field in Piedmont.

Bay Oaks/Piedmont Soccer Club/Rockridge Soccer Club Sunday Academy

Piedmont Soccer Club, in conjunction with Rockridge Soccer Club, will provide professional training for all its players and coaches through a partnership with the Bay Oaks Soccer Club.  The Bay Oaks will provide "trainers" who are coaches in their program to work with our Class IV teams.

Class IV recreational teams may participate in a fall Soccer Academy led by Bay Oaks trainers.  Each participating team will attend the Academy with their individual coach and be directed by Bay Oaks trainers who will help teach both players and coaches.

These sessions will be held at Caldecott Field on the following Sundays:
September 12 and 19, October 3, 10, 17 and 24, November 7 and 14 (no sessions on September 26 or October 31) Register at  www.sportability.com/spx/Leagues/Client.asp?ClientID=208 [link opens a new browser window] and scroll down to RSC Academy.  These sessions are provided at no cost to PSC coaches and players.

  • U6/8 1:15 - 2:15 pm 
  • U8: 2:30-3:30pm
  • U10: 3:45-4:45pm
  • U12 and above 5-6pm

Please be aware that a coach must accompany your team at every session as the coaches will be conducting a training session with the mentorship and assistance of experienced professional soccer coaches from the Bay Oaks Soccer Club. Each player must have a ball and coaches should bring pinnies. We hope you enjoy the Academy.

Goal Keeper Training

Piedmont Soccer Club and 24-7 UK Soccer Academy are pleased to announce that it will now be offering Goalkeeper training to all of the Class III and IV goalkeepers.
 
Sessions will begin on Monday August 30 at Witter Field, with 24-7 Goalkeeper Trainer CJ Garcia.
 
The sessions will focus on all aspects of goalkeeping; from basic handling technique, to dealing with crosses and distribution.
 
Monday Night Goalkeeper Training with PYSC and 24-7.
6:30 - 7:30pm @ Witter Field: U9 - U11 Boys and Girls.
7:30 - 8:30pm @ Witter Field: U12 - U19 Boys and Girls.
August 30 - October 25th (no session Sep 6, due to Labor Day).
 
Sign Up Options:
All 8 sessions = $80.
Weekly Drop-in = $15 per session.
Team Pay = $80 per goalkeeper (a team may reserve places per week. That way a different goalkeeper can take the spot(s) each week).
